What do you do when the celebrity in your motor insurance adverts suddenly loses his licence for speeding? Well, contrary to the opinion of Martin Clunes, you drop the celebrity and go in search of another.

We were worried that this might ruin everything we’d built up over the course of the 9 ads we’d penned for Martin; namely, simple messages, nicely timed comedy and warmth.

Thankfully, we needn’t have worried as we used Dawn French. Her ample comic experience has really added to our scripts and brought an added something to the campaign. She works well with Churchill and looks like she’s been with him forever.
